Braided Channels:

Formation:

  1. Braiding occurs when a river is carrying a large amount of sediment.

  2. When the velocity of a river drops or when a river is carrying too much sediment, it is forced to deposit some of this sediment.

  3. This results in the river dividing and widing itself around into smaller channels that eventually rejoin together again.
